UCM capabilities
Capability.
Boundaries.
UCM connects preflight checks, recording status, completed-file review, optional processing, and managed delivery in the institution’s Windows environment.
Capability boundaryScreen first. Accept the file afterward.Preview status and diagnostics help staff act earlier; only the finalized file and actual playback can confirm the deliverable.
Before recording
Check the room.
Set the conditions.
Selected camera / audio path
A/V sync self-test
About 45 seconds of test recording uses visible flashes and audible beeps near the beginning, middle, and end. UCM reports pass, caution, or indeterminate for early screening.
Results for iCam cameras and other external routing depend on a clear optical and audio path. The saved lesson still requires playback acceptance.
No license key required
Compatibility screening
Using the intended camera, audio device, and computer, UCM reviews file completeness, actual FPS, timeline stalls, CPU, memory, disk, and hardware-encoding availability.
This supports deployment screening. It is not product certification, customer-site acceptance, or a guarantee for every recording duration.
Authorized timetable
Scheduled background recording
Recurring weekly sessions can include course, teacher, classroom, and filename information. Staff can receive start, completion, failure, or missed-session notifications.
The Windows PC must stay signed in and awake with UCM running. A sleeping computer is not awakened, and a missed session is not recorded later.
During recording
Watch the signal.
Protect the session.
USB and IP sources
Camera, audio, and live status
Use supported USB or iCam camera inputs with the intended audio path. UCM shows recording progress, storage, device state, and separate numeric values for monitor and recording FPS.
Recording quality protection
Reduce non-essential load first
Under sustained CPU pressure, UCM can reduce non-essential preview and background work while keeping the active segment’s resolution, FPS, encoder, and bitrate unchanged.
This mitigates risk; it does not guarantee zero dropped frames.
Image alignment
Four-corner keystone correction
When a board or teaching surface appears trapezoidal, authorized staff can adjust four corners to produce a more usable rectangular view.
Severe distortion, occlusion, or poor camera placement may require physical repositioning before correction.
After recording
Verify the file.
Prepare outputs.
Completed-file evidence
Recording health summary
UCM reviews integrity, audio presence, synchronization indicators, actual FPS, segment or finalization status, and storage warnings. Staff should still play the completed file.
Source retained
Editing to a new MP4
Set start and end points, split material, or remove selected segments, then export a new MP4 while retaining the source recording.
Automatic follow-up
Create MP3 audio
When enabled, UCM can automatically queue an MP3 from a successfully finalized recording that contains audio, without changing the source video.
Optional processing and delivery
Approved files.
Usable outputs.
Human review required
ASR, OCR, and AI-assisted drafts
ASR can prepare time-coded speech text, while OCR can extract text from selected frames or teaching materials. With explicit consent, reviewed text and course information—not the course video itself—can be used to prepare an editable AI-assisted handout draft.
Visible and retryable
Automatic NAS and YouTube queue
After finalization, approved recordings can automatically enter a queue for a writable NAS or authorized YouTube destination. Staff can see status and retry supported failures; the local source remains in place.
The institution configures credentials, access, retention, and YouTube visibility.
For authorized support
Privacy-conscious diagnostics
Environment, device, settings, and error information can be exported to improve support handoff. Camera passwords should be excluded, and the institution should inspect the package before sharing.
Availability depends on the agreed product edition, licensed scope, supported equipment, network, destination service, and deployment conditions. Formal scope is defined in the proposal or service document.
